Cohen For Belfast
Leonard Cohen, considered to be one of the world's most influential singer/songwriters, will play the Odyssey Arena on Sunday, July 26.
Tickets for the hugely anticipated show are expected to sell out within minutes of going on sale on Friday, April 3.
The Canadian artist, whose career has spanned four decades, played a number of sell-out shows at Kilmainham in Dublin last summer and the race has been on to entice him to play Belfast since then.
His songs examine all facets of human life, including sex, spirituality, religion and power.
Many of his songs dating back to the 1960s are long-standing classics, including Suzanne, So Long, Marianne and Bird On A Wire.
But his most famous song is undoubtedly Hallelujah, which was originally released on his 1984 album Various Positions and has since been recorded over 180 times by different artists, including, most recently, X Factor winner Alexandra Burke.

Man Arrested For Headbutting Female Police Officer
A 22-year-old man has been arrested in Newry for assaulting a police officer. While responding to a domestic related report, a local female officer was headbutted to the head, which caused swelling and bruising. The officer was seen by medical staff and her injuries were not more serious and she felt well enough to remain on duty.

NI Man Jailed For Use Of Criminal Encrypted Communication Channel
A 44-year-old man has been sentenced to a total of 12 years for offences linked to EncroChat – an encrypted communication channel used by criminals. Michael O'Loughlin was arrested in 2020 following the search of a property as part of Operation Venetic, a UK wide operation by the National Crime Agency (NCA) designed to "dismantle EncroChat".

A former police station in Belfast city centre is to be redeveloped for a new 74-bedroom hotel. Belfast City Council's Planning Committee approved the development on Queen Street, along with granting Listed Building Consent to bring the building into use again.
