South Belfast Post Office Is UK's Best

Finaghy Post Office has been crowned the UK's Best Post Office.

The accolade was announced at an awards ceremony hosted by BBC Breakfast presenter Kate Silverton earlier this month.

Described as having "star quality" the south Belfast branch also scooped the prize for the Most Innovative Branch in the 2009 People's Post Office Awards.

The competition itself set out to not only find which branches offer outstanding customer service, but to recognise the community spirit and hard work which makes post offices so valued by millions of people.

Finaghy's Branch Manager, Alan Gilliland, (pictured) who accepted the award at the event said: "This is a fantastic achievement for our branch.

"We are thrilled to receive these awards and I would like to pay tribute to our hard working and loyal staff members in the Finaghy branch for their commitment and expertise as well as to our loyal customers for putting their trust in us and voting for us.

"We have the 'Finaghy Factor' - always offering star quality to our customers," he said

"Every customer who comes through our doors is special and by striving to go that extra mile for them we have been rewarded today."

Host Kate Silverton said: "Post Offices have a special place in people's hearts. They represent everything that is great about communities across the UK.

"Finaghy in particular has demonstrated how going that extra mile creates a sense of loyalty with customers and helps to build and maintain a strong, trusted and much appreciated business," she said.
