Airtricity Creates 200 New Dublin Jobs

Scottish-owned wind energy firm Airtricity has announced 200 new jobs in Dublin and Sandyford.

The announcement is part of the company's drive to win new customers.

The company, which supplies 70,000 customers in the Irish market, said it will create 50 new positions at its headquarters in Sandyford, Co Dublin, with the remaining 150 jobs being outsourced roles.

The new jobs will be in sales, customer support, billing and support services.

In June the renewable energy development division presented £25,000 to local community groups in Tyrone and Fermanagh from its 2009 Community Funds for wind farms in the region.

The firm said Airtricity has made grant awards to a total 30 community based projects within 10km of their wind farms at Tappaghan near Lack in Co. Fermanagh, at Bin Mountain near Castlederg and at Bessy Bell near Mountjoy, Omagh, in Co. Tyrone.

In a statement from the company last month, over £1 million will be paid over 25 years, the expected life of the wind farms, to community projects in Tyrone and Fermanagh from these wind farms alone.
