Kenya-Based Charity Worker Recovering
Just days into a major mercy project, a woman charity worker from Northern Ireland has been seriously injured in a bus crash in Kenya.
She was hurt along with five other volunteers - part of a 13-strong team deployed in the African country.
All are today recovering in hospital and are expected to be discharged later.
With ages ranging from 18 to 61, the diverse group is working for the charity, Habitat for Humanity NI, building houses (pictured).
The minibus taking them to a site in Kathiami was involved in an accident with another vehicle and rolled down an embankment.
Seven other workers who were on the bus were discharged from hospital on Tuesday.
Speaking on BBC Radio Ulster this morning, Peter Farquharson, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity, said the woman's family had travelled to Nairobi and were at her side.
"We understand that she is stable and her family have met up with her. We understand that she has facial and soft tissue injuries. She is being attended to in a private hospital in Kenya."
Mr Farquharson said the woman's injuries were not life threatening and she was in a stable condition.
He said the other injured members were this morning sitting-up having their breakfast: "The other five team members have had a good night and we hope they will be discharged later. If they are fit, they will be on an aeroplane to Northern Ireland this evening."
The charity builds houses for people in need and only arrived in Kenya last week.
They were on their way to begin a second day's work when the accident happened.

Woman Arrested Following Craigavon Search Operation

A 63-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a stabbing incident in Antrim on Friday, 26 January. Shortly after 5.10am police received a report that a man, aged in his 40s, had been stabbed at a property in the Firmount Drive area of the town. He was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment to stab wounds to his upper body area.

Just after 2.45am, police received a report from our colleagues in northern Ireland Ambulance Service that a man had been stabbed in the St Bernadette's Avenue area.
