82-year-old pensioner escapes pipe bomb attack
An 82-year-old man has escaped injury after a pipe bomb was thrown at houses in County Antrim.
The incident happened in the Serpentine Road area of north Belfast around quarter past midnight on Friday April 5.
Police were called to the area after reports of a disturbance in Merston Gardens shortly after midnight.
During a follow-up search by army bomb experts, a controlled explosion was carried out on the device.
A number of families in Merston Gardens were moved from their homes during the incident.
Meanwhile city centre retail stores and their staff have been told by police to be extra vigilant following the discovery of an incendiary device in a shop in Rosemary Street on Friday April 5. Police have asked anyone who sees anything suspicious to contact them.

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

A police patrol was attacked with a pipe bomb in County Tyrone on Saturday. A security alert began in the Ballycolman estate, Strabane, at about 20:25, following news that something had been thrown at police.

TWO elderly Protestant sisters have escaped injury after a petrol bomb attack on their East Belfast home. The women, aged 73 and 79, escaped injury after a passing police patrol discovered a fire at their home and forced their way into the house in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Suspect package declared a hoax
A suspect device found in north Belfast on Friday has been declared a hoax. The package was discovered at a telephone control box on Glenview Street. Army bomb experts were immediately called in and the area between Old Park Road and Park View Court was immediately sealed off. It has since been reopened.
