Evening Tours Boosts Belfast Art
Belfast's public art galleries are to resume a successful programme of late evening opening.
Art lovers can benefit this Thursday evening (6 August) as venues around the city will be remaining open until 9pm on the first Thursday of every month.
The initiative is part of the award-winning 'Late Night Art' scheme, organised by Belfast City Council in partnership with Culture Northern Ireland.
It begins this Thursday, when there will be guided bus and walking tours of the various galleries.
Due to popular demand, two bus tours will leave the Ormeau Baths Gallery, in Ormeau Avenue, at 6.15pm, with tickets costing £7.
The walking tour costs £5 and leaves from Belfast Exposed, in Donegall Street.
A 'Late Night Art' party will be held afterwards in the Black Box, from 9pm, where participants can all discuss what they have seen and embrace their inner art critic.
Galleries opening late this Thursday are Belfast Exposed in Donegall Street, Belfast Print Workshop in CottonCourt, Catalyst Arts in College Court, Craft NI in CottonCourt, the Gerard Dillon Gallery on the Falls Road, the Golden Thread Gallery in Great Patrick Street, the Naughton Gallery at Queen's, PLACE in Fountain Street, Ps2 in Donegall Street, Queen's Film Theatre in University Square, the Queen Street Studios, and SpaceCRAFT in the Fountain.
'Late Night Art' was named 'Best New Project' at the recent Northern Ireland Tourism Awards and tickets for both tours are available from the Belfast Welcome Centre in Donegall Place.
