IKEA Announces 'Temp' Jobs

The Swedish furnishing retailer, IKEA has announced plans to hire 100 temporary workers at its new store in Dublin.

The retailer said that the move follows the "overwhelming consumer response to the opening of the store" last month.

The jobs will initially be for a two-month period, but may be made permanent if the current demand continues.

An average of more than 15,000 people have visited IKEA every day since it opened. Five hundred people already work at the store.

Iceland Comes To Downpatrick
Food retailer Iceland has announced plans to open a new store in Downpatrick, Co Down, with new jobs in store too. Engineers have already moved onsite to kit out the store, which will the first new tenant in the town's renovated Grove shopping centre. Town Centre Manager Eric Tommasini welcomed the announcement.

The Body Shop Announces Job Cuts
Around 150 British jobs are to be lost at ethical cosmetics chain The Body Shop, it has been announced. The company – which was sold to French cosmetics giant L'Oreal in March 2006 for £652m – is to cut 275 jobs worldwide. It was revealed a restructuring drive was behind the decision to cut staff.
