Abtran expansion to create 80 jobs in Cork
Abtran have announced the creation of an additional 80 jobs in Cork.
The specialist outsourcing company, which provide a range of integrated customer relationship management solutions, is set to double their outsourcing solutions teams working on contracts for government departments, industry and multi-national companies.
The company, which currently handle around 6,000 calls a day, provide telemarketing services, helpdesk and technical support, and payment and order processing.
Abtran's Managing Director Gerard Fitzgerald said that with current clients requiring increased services and a number of new contracts coming on board the firm were expanding the workforce from 120 to 200.
Last year Abtran won various contracts from the Irish government and agencies for services relating to the Euro changeover in the form of a help desk, and work from the referendum commission.
Abtran has recently invested in new technology with an emphasis on systems integration and feature rich facilities. Mr Fitzgerald added that clients had access to calls, warehouse management data, and other pertinent information that gave the client transparent access to their information. This investment, he said, was backed up by Abtran's dedicated and talented personnel, which was the key company's continued success.
The company also have contracts from major international companies such as Airtricity, Shell and Pumatech.

Arntz Belting Heads For Trouble
The future for a struggling Pennyburn fan belt factory, which currently employs around 110 people, is looking bleak. The manufacturing plant, Arntz Belting Company, went to a three-day week in December and also sought 28 redundancies in March. However, the global recession has led to the firm's parent company looking at further cuts.
