4Home Jobs Talks

Management at a Cork DIY store will meet with union officials today, amid jobs fears.

Sixteen employees at the Mitchelstown 4Home store staged a sit-in protest last week after learning the shop would close.

The MANDATE trade union will hold talks with management at the superstore later to discuss the company's decision to close the outlet.

Employees were angered after being told they would only receive statutory redundancy entitlements.

A protest at the store ended on Friday night and employees returned to work on Saturday.

Management agreed to enter talks on an improved redundancy deal and the possibility of saving some jobs. The store will remain open while the talks are ongoing.
