Causeway Centre Designer Appointed

The Giant's Causeway is to get a major boost.

An award-winning European design group has been selected to create the new interpretive centre at Northern Ireland's foremost world heritage site.

Event Communications, which has offices in Dublin and London, will formulate the interiors for the new building.

The overall building scheme is being designed by Irish architects Heneghan Peng.

Event has been behind exhibits for the Waterford Treasures, in Co WateRford, the Chester Beatty Library in Dublin and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

The new tourist centre is expected to open in 2011.

Over £18m have been invested into the project by the National Trust, which owns the causeway.

The previous causeway visitors centre burned down in 2000, with a temporary building being used since then.
