Jobs Lost At Concrete Firm

A Co Westmeath that produces concrete has announced plans to close with the loss of 18 jobs.

John Gannon and Sons in Kilbeggan has gone into voluntary liquidation after 30 years in operation.

Staff were informed of the closure yesterday and told they are entitled to claim redundancy.

700 Jobs Announced At Deutsche Bank
Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD and IDA Ireland has welcomed the announcement by Deutsche Bank that the company is to create 700 jobs in Dublin in the coming years. Deutsche Bank plan to significantly grow its operations in Dublin by taking 100,000 square feet of office space at Eastpoint Business Park.

NAS Strike Action Suspended Following Agreements
An all-out strike by members of the National Ambulance Service (NAS) due to begin tomorrow has been indefinitely suspended, trade union SIPTU has announced.

Workers To Be Affected By Readymix Sale
Around 320 people will be affected by the sale of Irish precast concrete products company Readymix, it has been revealed. County Tyrone company Acheson and Glover, based in Fivemiletown announced the acquisition of part of the company for €49 million yesterday. Readymix has said it had a business turnover of €55.

An Post To Cut 1,300 Jobs By 2012
An Post has announced plans to reduce its workforce by more than 1,300 over the next three years. The company is seeking to cut 250 jobs from its Dublin headquarters in the first phase of the cuts from January. Around 450 staff have already received letters regarding voluntary redundancy.
