Belfast Shooting Probed

There has been a further shooting incident in north Belfast's nationalist Ardoyne area.

A man has been taken to hospital after being shot four times in the early hours of Friday morning.

Three masked men, two armed with hand guns, are understood to have forced their way into a house where the man, 40, sustained wounds to his elbow, ankle and both knees.

The attack took place at Cranbrook Court.

His injuries are not considered life threatening and the police investigating the shooting have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

This latest incident follows a similar incident in July, when masked men shot a father-of-three in both legs while his wife and six-year-old son wept in the kitchen.

That incident happened at Ardoyne's Jamaica Court in July.

Speaking at the time, Ardoyne priest Aidan Troy said he was in the emergency department of the Royal Victoria hospital in connection with another matter at the time the victim - who had been shot in both legs - was admitted.

He said there was a "huge amount of distress" with the man's wife and relatives very upset, he said.
