NI Businessman's Death In Algarve 'Suspicious'

Police in Portugal are investigating the suspicious death of a Northern Ireland businessman in the Algarve. The body of Paul Houston, 51, was found on a promenade in the resort of Alvor. According to reports, local police believe that the Londonderry man, who owned Houston's Shoes, may have been the victim of an attempted mugging as he returned to his apartment. A post-mortem is due to be carried out.



Ballykinler Security Alert 'A Hoax'

A security alert which forced the closure of the Commons Road area in Ballykinler, Co. Down, has been declared a hoax. The area had been sealed off following the discovery of a subject object on Monday morning.



Man Injured In Shooting Incident

A man has suffered injuries to his knees and ankles in a shooting in Londonderry. The 24-year-old was shot after a gang of masked men forced their way into his home in the Carrickreagh Gardens area in Creggan around 11:25pm last night. He is being treated in hospital. Police at Strand Road have appealed for anyone with any information to contact them on: 0845 600 8000 or Crimestoppers anonymously on: 0800 555 111.



Firefighter Hit In Pellet Gun Attack

A firefighter was struck by pellets from pellet gun while driving on the Ormeau Road in south Belfast on Monday afternoon. The incident happened as the fire crew were returning from an incident. The driver was not seriously injured, although the crew were shaken by the attack. A group of youths were seen running from the scene.

Man Jailed For Manslaughter Of David James Conville
A 31-year-old man has been jailed at Belfast Crown Court for the manslaughter of David James Conville in south Belfast in May, 2022. Edward Kelly was sentenced to serve three-and-a-half years, half of his sentence will be served in custody and half will be served on licence, following his guilty plea last November.

Number Of Roads Remain Closed Following Storm Ali
A number of roads remain closed across Northern Ireland following the damage caused by Storm Ali. The following roads are still closed, however the Department for Infrastructure (DfI) is working to clear the obstructions along with its multiagency partners.
