Gwent River Death
A body found in a river in south Wales has been identified as an 83-year-old woman, police have said. Gwent Police named the woman as Margaret Morgan and said the death was not being treated as suspicious. Officers had been called at just after 10am on Saturday to the River Ebbw near Allotment Road at Beaufort, Ebbw Vale.
NI Suicide Picture Slammed
A suicide awareness group has expressed its "disgust" at a Sunday newspaper's decision to print a photograph of a man who had apparently taken his own life. The Sunday World printed a graphic picture of the man hanging by a rope from a bridge in Bangor in County Down. The police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man's death. Junk Food 'Depressing'
Eating a diet high in processed food increases the risk of depression, research suggests. However, people who ate plenty of vegetables, fruit and fish actually had a lower risk of depression, the University College London team found. Data on diet among 3,500 middle-aged civil servants was compared with depression five years later, the British Journal of Psychiatry reported. The team said the study was the first to look at the UK diet and depression.
Olympic Village Block Complete
The first of the 11 residential blocks within the London 2012 Olympic Village has been structurally completed. The announcement came on the eve of 1,000 days to go to the Olympic Games. The Village will be home to 23,000 athletes and officials during the Games. As well as residential apartments there will be shops, restaurants, medical and leisure facilities, and large areas of open spaces. After the Games the Village will be transformed into 2,800 new homes, including 1,379 affordable homes and housing for sale and rent. The development will become part of the overall Stratford City regeneration scheme.
Trams On Track
Manchester city centre tram services have resumed after a major £22m upgrade which saw the Metrolink tracks replaced and the platforms at St Peter's Square and Piccadilly Gardens stops refurbished. Two days of free travel to thank people for putting up with disruption during the repairs will be on 14 and 19 November, a Greater Manchester Transport Executive spokesman said.
Energy Authority Sells UKAEA
The government has welcomed the completion of the UK Atomic Energy Authority's £50m sale of 100% of its commercial arm, UKAEA Limited, to Babcock International Group.
The sale is the first transaction under the government’s Operational Efficiency Programme, launched last year. The Programme aims to ensure more efficient and commercial operation of assets held by the public sector, including certain businesses. This aspect is being managed by the Shareholder Executive.

Kids Targeted In Gwent Alco-Haul
Gwent Police have confiscated more than 82 litres of alcohol from underage drinkers in a small area of Rogerstone during just two nights. Newport West Neighbourhood Policing Team seized the alcohol after responding to 31 reports of antisocial behaviour in the Afon Village area.

Launderette Murder: Five Teens Jailed In Liverpool
Five teenagers from the 'Laneheads' gang in Anfield have been jailed over the murder of 19-year-old Sean 'Shorty' McHugh. Mr McHugh was killed inside a launderette where he tried to hide from the gang on 30th September 2013.

Pressure is mounting on Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair to resign over the shooting of innocent Brazilian Jean Charles de Menezes. The force broke health and safety laws when officers pursued Mr Menezes to a Tube station and shot him seven times, mistaking him for a terror suspect.
