Man Jailed For Trafford Burglary
A man has been jailed after breaking into a house in Northern Moor, Manchester.
Samuel Gildea, 21, of Wendon Road, Baguley, pleaded guilty to burglary at an earlier hearing at Minshull Street Crown Court.
Gildea was sentenced to three years, reduced to two-and-a-half years for an early guilty plea, for burglary on Thursday 7 January 2010.
The sentence relates to a burglary on 4 June 2009 where Gildea broke into a house on Kerscott Road.
He smashed the patio window and stole the television.
A minimum sentence of three years is applied to burglary offenders on or after their third separate conviction.
Gildea has previously been convicted for committing offences in Manchester and Trafford.
Sergeant Phil Seeley said: "As a Force we are determined to bring offenders to justice who feel the need to break into people's homes, taking whatever they can find.
"Burglars violate the place where people should feel the most secure and I hope the local community feel a lot safer now he is behind bars."

The Home Office claimed today that a £26 million initiative has cut burglary in crime hotspots by a fifth over the last three years. The evaluation of the Home Office's 'Reducing Burglary Initiative', which, brought 63 projects around the country to fruition, has noted a reduction in the number of burglaries.

Teenagers and beggars to face drugs testing
Teenagers and beggars who are charged with drug-related crimes are to be tested for class A drugs, the Home Office has announced today. Fourteen to 17-year-olds who are charged for a 'trigger offence', such as burglary, car crime and theft, will be tested for heroin, crack and cocaine.

Prolific Burglar To Serve At Least Five Years
A burglar who had absconded from a secure unit whilst serving a sentence for a previous armed burglary was jailed for a minimum of five years and ten months on Friday 7 May. Ashley Waterman, 21, was given an Indeterminate Sentence for Public Protection for six burglary offences committed while on the run.

UK Unemployment Falls
Unemployment in the UK has fallen by some 57,000 in the three months May, new figures show. The total figure now stands at 2.51 million, holding steady at 7.8%. New figures from the Office of National Statistics show that the number of people claiming jobseekers allowance in June also feel, dropping by 21,200 to 1.48 million.
