Designer 'Hanged Himself In Wardrobe'

Renowned British fashion designer Alexander 'Lee' McQueen died after hanging himself in a wardrobe, an inquest into his death was told today.

McQueen was found dead at his London home last Thursday. A note was found at the scene.

The international designer was just days away from launching his latest collection at New York Fashion Week, however the event had been marred by the recent death of his mother.

He took his life on the eve of her funeral. McQueen's body was identified by his sister, the inquest heard.

Detective Inspector Paul Armstrong told the five-minute hearing there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding McQueen's death.

Coroner's officer Lynda Martindill said no report of the post-mortem examination was yet available.

Dr Paul Knapman, presiding over the case, was handed a note found in McQueen's home.

He adjourned the hearing until on 28 April. McQueen's family has asked the press to respect their privacy.

Last night, American pop artist Lady Gaga dedicated her Brit Awards performance to the four-time British designer of the year recipient.
