Teen Sex Assaulted At Bus Stop

A teenage girl has been sexually assaulted while waiting for a bus in Oldham.

Great Manchester Police said the incident occurred at about 7.10pm on Tuesday 9 March.

"A 16-year-old girl was at a bus stop on Manchester Road, Oldham near to the Smut Inn when she was approached by the offender, who made lewd comments to her before he sexually assaulted her," said a police spokesman.

Moments later the victim got onto the 83 bus towards Oldham and the offender ran off up Manchester Road.

He is described as Asian, between 17 and 20 years old, 6ft tall, of slim build with short black hair and a large nose.

He was dressed in traditional Asian clothing in pale blue and was wearing a black Timberland style jacket and black shoes.

Police Constable Jo Robertshaw, said: "We are working extremely hard to identify this man but I would ask anyone who saw what happened or may have any information to come forward.

"The victim recalls two people nearby at the time but was too frightened to call out for help. I am especially keen to speak them or anyone who was on the bus and may have seen the offender."
