Pigs Alert
A vehicle packed with live pigs has turned over and crashed in England. The animal transporter was carrying more than 100 pigs and overturned on the M4 in Wiltshire between Leigh Delamere services and junction 18, the turnoff for Bath. Vets are at the scene treating injured animals and rescue teams are trying to catch runaway pigs and the police have closed off junction 17 and put diversions in place. Motorists have been warned of severe delays.
Massive Military Exercise
Army, navies and air forces from Nato countries have gathered in the UK for the start of Joint Warrior - Europe's largest military exercise. UK-led and running until 23 April, it will see training in Scotland and in the sea off its coast. Aircraft will be flying from RAF stations at Kinloss and Lossiemouth in Moray. Training will also take place at Cape Wrath in Sutherland and around the Western Isles. HMS Ark Royal will be among 21 warships on the exercise
Asda Changes
The supermarket chain Asda has revealed that its current Chief Executive, Andy Bond, is to leave his role and become part-time Chairman. Mr Bond has been in charge of Leeds-based Asda for five years but leaves at a time of change at the top of the industry with rival Morrisons' Chief Executive Mark Bolland leaving to head up Marks and Spencer.
Scottish Teen Robbed
A teenager is recovering after being held up at knifepoint by three men thought to be of Middle Eastern appearance, who then made off with cash after the incident in an Edinburgh street. The 19-year-old man was walking near the old brewery gates in Fountain Park on Friday at just after 11pm when he was surrounded by three men. A fight broke-out and one of the men who was holding a knife demanded money.
Developers To Fund Affordable Housing
Researchers from the University of Sheffield have revealed that private developers will agreed to fund £5 billion of England's local capital infrastructure, including roads, schools and new affordable housing in England. The research, which was commissioned by the Department of Communities & Local Government (CLG) and published today by CLG, shows planning obligations have led to the very substantial investments by developers. The planning obligations, known as S106 agreements, are negotiated by local planning authorities when granting planning permission for new developments.

Suspended Sentence For Man Who Left Pigs Head At Muslim Centre
A man who left a severed pig’s head outside a Muslim community centre on Boxing Day has avoided jail. 24-year-old Liam Ferrar received a 12-week sentence, which was suspended for a year. The court heard that Mr Ferrar was disgusted by his actions and had written a letter of apology to his victims.

Suspicion that man fed wife to pigs
A 54-year-old engineer has been convicted of murdering his wife in 2002. Martin Baker of Egham, Surrey was convicted despite no trace of his wife, Tina's, body being found. The 41-year-old was last seen going to feed the animals at their farm in July 2002.

Developers CPC Group has partially won a High Court battle after a judge ruled in their favour over a housing project on the Chelsea Barracks site in London. Property developer Christain Candy claimed his development partner, Qatari withdrew a planning application after the Prince of Wales complained about its design.

Miliband Backs Nuclear Expansion
The UK will 'fast track' a new set of nuclear reactors, the Climate Secretary said today. Making the announcement, Ed Miliband insisted the country could not afford to "say no" to nuclear power. Mr Miliband outlined almost a dozen sites identified as suitable for new energy schemes, across northern and southern England, and north Wales.
