Reward Offered In Lewisham Murder Probe
Police are offering a £20,000 reward for information following the murder of a 56-year old man in Lewisham.
The reward, of up to £20,000, is for information leading to the identification, arrest and prosecution of the person responsible for the murder of Mr Abdel Salam Hassan Abdel Salam.
Police say they were called to Mr Abdel Salam’s small bottom-floor flat in Boone Street, Lee, at around 7.10am on Saturday (March 13) after a neighbour noticed his door was ajar.
Just inside the front door lay the body of the 56-year-old.
Paramedics pronounced the Sudanese human rights lawyer dead at the scene. He died from huge blood loss from a stab wound in his leg.
Met officers from the homicide and serious crime command are investigating and say they are retaining an "open mind" as to the motive for the stabbing.
Mr. Abdel Salam was black, 5 ft 9 tall and weighed 22 stone; he had short Afro hair, a moustache and glasses. He lived at a flat in Boone Street and was well known in his area, using two sticks to walk. He was also an employee at a charity called 'Redress', a human rights organisation that helps torture survivors, where he was well known for his work.
An incident room opened at Lewisham under Detective Chief Inspector Damian Allain (Homicide and Serious Crime Command).
DCI Allain said: "We continue to appeal for information from the public as we believe there are people locally who have information that could help us solve this murder. This was a violent attack on the doorstep of this man's home in a residential area.
"An innocent man who dedicated his life to others was pointlessly murdered and I would like to hear from anyone with information that may assist us with this enquiry and hope that the reward we are offering motivates people to come forward."

Reward Offered For Information On 'Brutal' Murder
Detectives investigating the brutal murder of 24-year-old Rocky Dawson in 2006 have appealed for further information. Christopher Pearman, 54, of Waltham Abbey was convicted of shooting Mr Dawson last year and was ordered to serve a minimum of 23 years in jail.

A year on from the murder of a human rights worker in Lewisham, police are still appealing to the public for witnesses and information. Abdel Salam Hassan Abdel Salam, 56, was found by a neighbour at 7.10am on 13 March 2010 slumped just inside the doorway of his flat in Boon Street, south east London.

£50,000 Reward Offered In Murder Investigation
A reward of £50,000 has been offered for information leading to a conviction in the murder investigation of Redwan El-Ghaidouni. Mr El-Ghaidouni (38) was shot as he sat in the driver's seat of his parked car on the driveway of the home he shared with his wife and three children in Vine Lane, Hillingdon, just before 19:00 on Tuesday, 3 February.

According to reports on Friday morning, gunfire and explosions have been heard around Bani Walid, situated 110 miles south of Tripoli, as fighters continue their final push.
