Man Found in Burning Car
The body of a man has been discovered in a car which was on fire on a beach on Merseyside. Police were called to a report of a car on fire close to Shore Road in Ainsdale, near Southport, just before 8.30am. Detectives from Merseyside Police and fire investigation officers are trying to work out how the blaze started. A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out later to establish the cause of death.
Ceiling Falls On Bingo Players
Bingo players had a narrow escape when a false ceiling collapsed at a club in the Scottish Borders. Three fire engines, three ambulances and two police vans were called to the Pavilion in Galashiels on Thursday evening. No-one was injured and the building was evacuated along with the adjoining cinema complex. Cinema-goers were given refunds as they left the building. Safety experts were due to examine the scene.
Woman Killed In Crocodile Attack
A British-based woman has died after a crocodile attacked her while she was snorkelling in India. Lauren Failla disappeared while holidaying on the Andaman Islands with her boyfriend. The 25-year-old’s body was discovered two days later. Ms Failla, from Morris Township, New Jersey, US, had recently completed a master’s degree at Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London. Her death happened four years after her older sister Emily died in a rock climbing accident in Washington state.
Police Probe Suspicious Death
Police have launched an investigation following the death of a man in East Kilbride. A Strathclyde Police spokesman said the man's death was being treated as suspicious. He was found in the Mossneuk area at about 7pm on Thursday however no further details have been released.
Two Killed In Car Crash
Two elderly people have been killed in a car crash near the Stocksbridge bypass in South Yorkshire. Their car was turning on to the A616 Whams Road from Bents Road near Dunford at 5.30pm when they collided with a car travelling north from the bypass. The driver, a 76-year-old man, and passenger, a woman, 71, both from Mottram, Greater Manchester, both died. The driver of the other car, a 34-year-old Halifax man, escaped without injury, South Yorkshire Police said. Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to contact police.

Two more arrested over attempted car bombings
Police investigating the attempted car bombings in London and Glasgow airport have arrested two more people. Two men, aged 28 and 25, were arrested in the Paisley area, west of Glasgow on Sunday night Five people are still being held in connection with the attacks, but it is believed that at least one suspect remains on the run.

Appeal For Information Over Vehicle Death Fire Investigation
Police are appealing for information following the death of a man in a vehicle fire. London Fire Brigade were called to a car park at Greenford Cemetery, off Windmill Lane, on Wednesday 22 April, where a car was on fire. After extinguishing the fire the body of an elderly man was found inside.

Man Killed By Police Car In Reading
A man has died after being struck by a police car in Reading. A police officer also hit by the same car is being treated in hospital, his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. Police say that the two men were struck by a patrol car responding to a report of a burglary in Eastern Avenue at about 01:45 on Wednesday morning.

A British man has died in police custody in Dubai. Lee Bradley Brown, 39, from east London, died on Tuesday after he was taken to a Dubai police station where he was allegedly assaulted and put into a cell. It has been reported that Mr Brown, was arrested over a row at the luxury hotel Burj Al Arab hotel.

Man Arrested Over Kent Doctor's Murder
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a doctor in Kent. Consultant paediatrician Dr Victoria Anyetei, 54, was found in her car in the driveway of her home in Dartford on August 14. She had been stabbed to death. Kent Police said that the man was arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Dartford.
