BBC One Gets New 'Ident Music'
After composing the official BBC World Cup theme 2010, specialists Soviet Science were commissioned to compose the latest in the family of BBC One idents. Aired on Friday night for the first time before the Uraguay vs France World Cup game, the ident will continue to run as part of the family of idents we have come to know whenever we watch BBC One - from motorcyclists on the Wall of Death to skating penguins, helicopters to surfers - this one adds a new dimension with a football stadium crowd turning their coloured flag waving Mexican wave in to the BBC One logo whilst chanting the famous BBC One tune. The composition started with Composer/Producer Scuta Salamanca attending the shoot at Tottenham Hotspur Football ground and getting the crowd to perform between takes. As with all the idents in the family the BBC One nemonic was used and is chanted by the crowd.
