Body Found On Railway Line
A 27-year-old woman has been found dead on a disused railway line in Rugby. The body of Gemma Hayter, from Biart Place, Rugby, was found by a jogger shortly before 6am on Monday morning by an embankment off Hillmorton Road. A post mortem failed to establish the cause of death, but police have confirmed that she was assaulted. A 35-year-old local man has since been arrested on suspicion of murder. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Warwickshire Police.
Man Jailed For Attempted Rape
A 33-year-old video games tester has been jailed for attacking a woman at a Christmas party in the West End. Dean Powell, of Gews Corner, Cheshunt, pleaded guilty to attempted rape and sexual assault by penetration at Southwark Crown Court last week. He was sentenced to two years for the first charge and six months for the second charge - both sentences will run concurrently. A third charge of sexual assault will lie on file. The offences took place at the Hard Rock Cafe in west London on December 18, 2009. Powell had been seen by a member of staff trying to have sex with the 34-year-old victim outside the premises. The staff member took three photos on his mobile phone of Powell and alerted police who subsequently arrested him.
Appeal Over South London Rape
Police are appealing for a couple to come forward after they helped a rape victim to escape. The incident happened on July 21 in Argyll Road, Woolwich at around 10:15pm, when a 24-year-old woman, who had just been raped at knifepoint, managed to run out of a house from her attacker. A vehicle, containing a man and a woman, stopped to help her and took her to safety. The couple, described as a black male and a white female, dropped the victim at Woolwich Arsenal Station around fifteen minutes later. Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the victim in the road or when the couple stopped to assist her and they would especially like to speak to the couple who helped the woman. Rape Investigation Against MP Mark Pritchard Dropped
An investigation into rape allegations against Conservative MP Mark Pritchard have been dropped, Scotland Yard has confirmed. Mr Pritchard, MP for The Wrekin in Shropshire, was arrested on 2 December, however he was released on police bail. He has now been informed no further action will be taken.

Leeds suspend Morris pending internal inquiry
The Leeds United footballer Jody Morris has been suspended by his club pending an internal investigation. Mr Morris was arrested on Tuesday by officers investigating the alleged rape of a 20-year-old woman in Collingwood on Monday. He has since been released on police bail.

A woman who was raped by Wales footballer Ched Evans is to receive compensation from nine people after she was named on social networking sites. Seven men and three women aged between 18 and 27 from north Wales and Sheffield have been ordered to pay £624 after revealing the victim’s identity.

A bus driver from Hayes has been found guilty of two counts rape at Isleworth Crown Court. Kalash Vijay, 42, from Evergreen Way was convicted following an investigation by officers from the Metropolitan Police Service's Sapphire unit.
