Afghanistan Blast Soldier Dies In UK

Yet another soldier has died as a result of the conflict in Afghanistan.

He died in a UK hospital after being injured in an explosion, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has said.

He served with the 1st Battalion The Mercian Regiment (Cheshire) and was on patrol in the Nahr-e Saraj district of Helmand when he was wounded on 13 July.

The MoD said he died while surrounded by his family, at Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital, on Wednesday.

The death brings the number of British service personnel killed in operations in Afghanistan since 2001, to 328.

Following the explosion, the soldier was initially treated at the scene before being flown to the UK.

Teenager rescued from sea dies
A 15-year-old boy rescued from the sea off Norfolk has died. A lifeboat crew rescued the boy who had got into difficulties while swimming with another boy off Wells-Next-the-Sea, Norfolk. He was located by the lifeboat and was airlifted to hospital. But he later died shortly after being admitted to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

British Soldier Dies In 'Enemy Fire' In Afghanistan
Another British soldier had been killed in southern Afghanistan, it has been confirmed by the Ministry of Defence. The soldier, from the Royal Army Veterinary Corps, attached to the 2nd Battalion the Parachute Regiment, died on Thursday, after coming under fire while on routine patrol.

221st Soldier Dies In Afghanistan
As the Queen remembered veterans of the Iraq conflict today in London, news came through of a further tragedy on the current 'frontline. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has announced that a soldier, who was serving with 1st Battalion The Coldstream Guards, has died in an explosion near Camp Bastion, in central Helmand, Afghanistan.

British Soldier Killed In Afghanistan
A British soldier has been killed in Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence have confirmed. It is understood that the soldier of the 14 Signals Regiment had been on patrol in Helmand Province when he was killed by enemy fire. His death brings the number of UK service personnel to have died in Afghanistan since 2001 to 445.

British Soldier Killed In Iraq
A British solider has been killed in Iraq, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed. The MoD said that the soldier died as a result of gunshot wounds sustained during a firefight in the early hours of Wednesday morning. The soldier's family have been informed and have asked for privacy.
