Mum And Daughter Murder Arrest

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, after a mother and daughter were stabbed to death in east London.

The body of a woman in her 40s was found in Stansfield Road in Beckton around 7.30am.

Officers investigating that incident were led to a property in Leamouth Road through identity documents discovered on the victim. However, the house was on fire and the body of a second woman, aged in her late sixties or early seventies, was found in a ground floor room with stab wounds.

A man in his 40s was found in the loft of the property, also suffering from knife wounds, which are believed to have been self-inflicted. He is being treated in hospital, but his wounds are not believed to be life-threatening. He has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
