Public Sector Figures Revealed
Over 9,000 public sector workers paid by the taxpayer are earning higher salaries than the Prime Minister, it has been announced.
David Cameron does not come out tops as the best paid public sector worker in Britain, although he does have the potential to earn millions.
The study, carried out for BBC1's Panorama, revealed the NHS was the highest paying public sector with over 6,500 staff receiving more than David Cameron's £142,500-a-year salary.
1,465 GPs took home the bigger wage packets - 10 of whom received more than £300,000.
In the education sector, 385 teachers in England earn more than £100,000 and 17 get more than the Prime Minister.
The overall results do not include the salaries of publicly-owned corporations operating on a commercial basis, including Royal Mail where former Chief Executive Adam Crozier earned a remuneration package worth £2.4m in 2009-10 before his move to the BBC.
Figures, however do not account for the Prime Minister's homes, his pension or his potential earning power on leaving office.

Gordon Brown has outlined plans to trim £12bn from the Government's budget over the next four years. He said savings plans had increased by £3bn, in a move squarely targeted at high earning public sector workers. The Prime Minister said these senior civil servants would be "named and shamed" in a bid to bolster efficiency.

Mr Prescott and Mr Brown were visiting homeowners in the Isokon building in Camden, London, a new restoration of a building whose residents formerly included Agatha Christie.

Olympic Stadium Budget 'High Jumps'
The estimated cost of the 2012 Games has hit £525 million, it has been revealed by an Olympics' watchdog. London Mayor Boris Johnson commissioned the review, which has found that the figure for the 80,000 seat stadium in Statford, east London, had accelerated by £29 million since November.
