More Snow, More Closures
It was another day off school for thousands of schoolchildren today.
More heavy snow meant that around 900 schools in Scotland are shut, along with 650 in Northern Ireland and 70 in Cumbria.
Temperatures plummeted in the UK overnight, with a low in Scotland of -17C (1F).
The Met Office has extended ice warnings across much of the UK.
In Central Scotland police have advised drivers to undertake essential journeys only.
Transport Minister for Scotland, Stewart Stevenson, has apologised after hundreds of drivers were stranded overnight, with the central belt hit badly by snow.
Meanwhile travel disruption continues for commuters with many services affected.
Tuesday morning services in and out of London's Liverpool Street station were delayed by up to 45 minutes, while reduced services are operating on the East Coast Mainline, with several local services in Yorkshire disrupted.
Belfast International, Glasgow and Edinburgh airports are open but passengers are advised to check for delays with airlines
The BBC have reported temperatures as low as -17C overnight in Strathallan, near Perth, and -14C (7F) at Sennybridge in Powys and Castlederg, Tyrone, and Scampton, Lincolnshire.
Cumbria and northern Lancashire could see 2-5cm (1-2in) of snow during Tuesday, while dense freezing fog would linger across the Midlands and southern England.

Bodies Uncovered At Edinburgh Hotel During 'Chemical Incident'
Emergency services responding to an ongoing chemical incident have uncovered the bodies of a man and woman at the Scotsman Hotel on North Bridge, Edinburgh. Some 20 fire-fighters remain at the scene of the incident, which began at around 12:15 this afternoon.

Britain Experienced 'Coldest Winter For A Decade'
Mild weather is expected to see out what remains of winter, the Met Office has said. However, despite this, it is expected to be the coldest UK winter since 1995/96, the provisional Met figures has shown. The low temperatures have also been accompanied at times by heavy snow.

£5m Allocated To Tackle Children's Communication Problems
A £5million package of measures is being rolled out to help improve services for children and young people with communication problems. A new Communication Champion is also being recruited to raise the profile of these issues, Children's Secretary, Ed Balls and Care Services Minister Phil Hope announced today.

Marks & Spencer poised to axe 1,000 jobs
Under restructuring plans announced on Friday, Marks & Spencer is to axe around 1,000 jobs following a review of head office operations and the financial services division. The company said the decision formed a "major part of Marks & Spencer's ongoing plan to accelerate business transformation".
