UK's Biggest Crane Passes Under Forth Bridges
The UK's largest crane is on route to Fife where it will be used to build aircraft carriers for the Royal Navy.
The 68m goliath crane squeezed under the Forth Bridges on its way to Rosyth Dockyard at low tide marking its 14,000-nautical-mile from Shanghai, China.
Halcrow's project, which is part of the Royal Navy's £4.6 billion future aircraft carrier programme (CVF), will see dock one widened and straddled by the crane which will compete with the Forth railway bridge for position in Scotland’s skyline.
Sean Donaldson, Babcock project director, described the passing as a "major landmark" in the carriers project.

Severn Bridges Toll Scrappage Would Boost Economy
Scrapping the Severn bridges toll could boost the Welsh economy by £107m, according to a government report. First Minister Carwyn Jones believes control of the bridges should be transferred from the UK government to the Welsh government by 2018. The Welsh government report says businesses and consumers spend £80m a year crossing the Severn bridges.

Former Tory minister Eric Forth dies
Conservative MP and former minister Eric Forth has died at the age of 61. The Bromley and Chislehurst MP was admitted to hospital at the end of last week. A statement released by the Conservative party said: "Eric Forth died peacefully in his sleep last night following a short illness. His wife, Carroll, was at his side.
