Sian Police Finish Search

After recovering a the body of a woman in Eastleach, Gloucestershire, Police have drawn their search to a close. The scene has now been released.

Detectives are continuing their work to identify the body, believed to be of a woman aged between 23 and 30.

The site had been investigated since the body of missing Swindon clubber Sian O'Callaghan was found 17 miles away last Thursday.

A police spokesman said the identification would take longer if a DNA match for the body could not be found on their database.

A police spokesman said: "If we don't get a DNA match further investigations will need to be carried out which may take some time.

"The public can be assured that we will of course inform the victim's family wherever possible before releasing any details in the media."

Yesterday Christopher Halliwell, 47, appeared at Swindon Magistrates' Court accused of murdering 22-year-old Sian O'Callaghan.

The minicab driver has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Bristol Crown Court on March 30 for a bail hearing.

Miss O'Callaghan, 22, disappeared after leaving a Swindon nightclub.

Last Thursday her body was found dumped in a roadside ditch near Uffington in Oxfordshire
