NHS Pay Review Body Appoint New Chair

The Department of Health has appointed Mr Jerry Cope to serve as the new Chair of the NHS Pay Review Body. The appointment follows the successful completion of two terms of office, the maximum number allowed, by Professor Gillian Morris. Commenting on Mr Cope’s appointment, The Secretary of State said: “I am pleased with the appointment of Jerry Cope to the NHS Pay Review Body. Jerry brings with him a wealth of expertise and experience. He has already brought strong leadership to the Prison Service Pay Review Body. Jerry will provide the NHS Pay Review Body with strong leadership and clear direction, enabling the review body to continue to fulfil effectively its functions as an independent public body.” Mr Cope said: “I am delighted to accept the post of Chair of the NHS Pay Review Body, not least because I very much appreciate the importance of its work over the next few years.”

Appeal Launched Following Camden Murder

Detectives from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command are appealing for information after a man in his twenties was murdered in Camden. A second male who suffered stab wounds to his arm during the same incident yesterday, is in a stable condition in a central London hospital. Police were called at approximately 4.50pm to reports of an assault at a sport's pitch in Mortimer Crescent, north west London. On arrival, officers and the London Ambulance Service (LAS) found a man suffering from stab injuries. He was taken to St Mary's Hospital, Paddington, where he was later pronounced dead. A post-mortem examination is due to be held at St Pancras mortuary today.

Detectives believe that they know his identity and are in the process of notifying all next of kin. Formal identification has yet to take place. The second male, thought to be 17-years, was subsequently found in a grocery shop in nearby Boundary Road. It is believed that he fled to the shop after the attack and called the emergency services. Investigating officers are appealing for anyone with information or who saw what happened to contact the Incident Room at Belgravia police station.

Mixed Fortunes For Easter Weekend Weather

Met Office forecasters are predicting mainly fine, dry and warm conditions at times for many parts of the UK this Easter weekend. Over the long weekend, the best weather is likely to be across England and Wales, with highs reaching the low 20's. However, the high temperatures may trigger isolated heavy and perhaps thundery showers. Mixed fortunes are expected over Northern Ireland and Scotland, with sunshine but also some showery rain at times and cooler temperatures by Bank Holiday Monday. The fine weather is expected to draw many people out and about with plenty of activities across the UK.
