Medical Body Probe Tomlinson Pathologist

The pathologist who determined Ian Tomlinson's death was a result of natural causes is being investigated.

Dr Freddy Patel recorded that Mr Tomlinson died as a result of a heart attack after the G20 protest in 2009.

Earlier this week, an inquest jury ruled that Ian Tomlinson was unlawfully killed at the protests in London and blamed internal bleeding for his death.

The jury determined that PC Simon Harwood used "excessive and unreasonable" force on Mr Tomlinson who was not taking part in the protests.

The jury added that Mr Tomlinson posed no threat.

The General Medical Council are now investigating Dr Freddy Patel's work on the case.

Dr Patel is currently serving a four-month suspension from pathological work following a sub-standard autopsy on a murder victim and falsifying his CV.
