Murder Inquiry Launched Following Braintree Shooting

Detectives have launched a murder inquiry following a shooting incident in Braintree.

Officers were called to an address at Bartram Avenue in the early hours of today, where they found the bodies of a woman and a child.

A man is currently in hospital under police guard and police are not seeking anyone else in connection with this incident at this time.

Officers from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate are at the scene and enqiries are continuing into the circumstances leading up to this incident.

Anyone with any information is asked to call police.

MoJ Reveal Drone Used In Prison Smuggle Attempt
The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has revealed that a drone was used to try and smuggle a package into the grounds of HMP Bedford. An MoJ spokesperson said that the aircraft was "quickly intercepted by vigilant staff" on 06 March.

Shevaun Pennington, who is from Leigh in Cumbria, has not been seen since she left her home in Abbey Road in Lowton at 7.30am on July 12.

Two Police Officers Injured Following Incident
Two police officers have been injured following an incident in Kingsbridge, Devon. Police were called to an address in Retreat Close on 13 May following threats made by a man to another resident. Officers attended the scene at approximately 4.30pm and entered the property. Both officers sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.

Reward Offered For Information On 'Brutal' Murder
Detectives investigating the brutal murder of 24-year-old Rocky Dawson in 2006 have appealed for further information. Christopher Pearman, 54, of Waltham Abbey was convicted of shooting Mr Dawson last year and was ordered to serve a minimum of 23 years in jail.

Waltham Forest Murder Probed
Detectives from Scotland Yard have appealed for information and witnesses to come forward after a murder in Waltham Forest. Police were called at around 12.50am on Sunday 11 April to a man suffering gunshot wounds in Seymour Road playing fields off Lea Bridge Road.
