Britain Urged To Employ British
Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith has urged UK companies to reach out to unemployed young Britons.
Speaking to the Spanish Foundation for Analysis and Social Studies in Madrid, he encouraged British businesses to "give a chance" to Britons, rather than depending on foreign workers.
Last year over half of newly filled jobs were accepted by foreign nationals.
The Work and Pensions Secretary said a "realistic promise" of work formed part of the government's "contract" with the British people.
However firms say they hire the "best people" and migrants often had a better work ethic and skills.
Under EU labour laws, most citizens can work in the UK without restriction. In an effort to reduce net migration, a cap has been implemented on the number of skilled workers from outside the EU permitted to work in the UK.

Plans Announced To Make Young People Work For Benefits
The Prime Minister has announced a proposal for 18 to 21-year-olds claiming benefits to do daily work experience. The proposed reform, known as Community Work Programme, would see young people not in work, education or training, required to complete daily work experience, alongside continuing to look for work in order to qualify for benefits.

BA suspends flights to Saudi Arabia over 'security concerns'
British Airways has announced that it is to suspend all flights to Saudi Arabia "due to heightened security concerns in the region". BA said that it would suspend flights until further notice follows discussions earlier today between the airline and the British government's Department for Transport.

The UK and Turkish Foreign Ministers have united in their pledge not to give in to terrorists following the attacks on British interests in Turkey. Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul, backed by British Foreign Minister Jack Straw, said that the bombings would only reinforce global resolve to fight terrorism.

Maths grades fuel A-level success
Results published today have revealed an increase in the number of candidates achieving A grades has risen by 1.3%, up from 22.8% last year to 24.1% in this year's A Level results. Marked out as contributing significantly to this improvement at grade A was mathematics.
