Toddler Injured In Milk Float Crash

A 22-month-old girl has been critically injured after being hit by a milk float in Halifax. The incident happened around 5:30pm on Thursday on Hopwood Lane. The child was taken to Leeds General Infirmary, where her condition is described as critical. An 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and released on bail as inquiries continue. Witnesses are asked to contact police on: 01924 293047.

Appeal Over Missing Barrow Teen

Cumbria Police are appealing for information about a missing teenage boy. Shaun Nelson, 16, who lives in Whitehaven, but is originally from Barrow, was last seen in Barrow on August 7, but was reported missing when he failed to return to Whitehaven. Police believe he may still be in the Barrow area. Shaun was last seen wearing a grey tracksuit and has dark short hair. Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on: 0845 33 00 247.

Man Arrested Over MP Email Threats

A 61-year-old man has been arrested in connection with threats made to Conservative MP Louise Mensch via email and social networking sites. The man was arrested at an address in the Gloucester area on suspicion of sending malicious communication. He has been taken into custody at a Gloucestershire police station.

Belfast 'Vice Ring' In Focus

A 29-year-old male has been charged with trafficking into the UK, trafficking within the UK, controlling prostitution, brothel keeping and concealing criminal property. A 22-year-old male and a 22-year-old female have been charged with brothel keeping and controlling prostitution. All three are expected to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court on the morning of Friday 26 August, while a 24-year-old man has been released on bail pending further enquiries. Earlier this week, four people were arrested in Belfast in a police investigation into a human trafficking and vice ring. The PSNI said six suspected trafficking victims had been rescued in recent weeks due to their enquiries and that the investigation has been running for three months and while centred in Belfast, stretched across Europe. Irisgate Closes

Northern Ireland's Castlereagh Council has been cleared over its controveral business lease to ex-DUP politician Iris Robinson's former lover. The findings of the full and final report were presented to council members on Thursday night and debated behind closed doors. The report by consultants Deloitte said there was no evidence of impropriety on behalf of council officers directly involved in the process of awarding the tender of a cafe to Kirk McCambley and the report also showed that the council did not incur any financial loss as a result of the award of the lease.

Wanted Man Arrested In London
The man wanted in connection with the murder of a 66-year-old man who intervened during a robbery, has been arrested. Ian John McLoughlin, 55, was arrested in London at around 01:00. He was wanted on suspicion of murder and robbery. Airports and ports had been put on alert as police hinted for McLoughlin.

British Man Dies In Dubai Police Custody
A British man has died in police custody in Dubai. Lee Bradley Brown, 39, from east London, died on Tuesday after he was taken to a Dubai police station where he was allegedly assaulted and put into a cell. It has been reported that Mr Brown, was arrested over a row at the luxury hotel Burj Al Arab hotel.

Man Arrested Over Kent Doctor's Murder
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a doctor in Kent. Consultant paediatrician Dr Victoria Anyetei, 54, was found in her car in the driveway of her home in Dartford on August 14. She had been stabbed to death. Kent Police said that the man was arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Dartford.

Teenager Arrested Over Rape Of 12-Year-Old Girl
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the rape of 12-year-old girl in east London. Three males lead the girl to a "secluded" end of a street in Walthamstow at around 00:15 on Saturday before two of them attacked her, held her down and raped her.

Man Arrested Over Assaults On Suspected Paedophiles
Greater Manchester Police have arrested a man in connection with alleged assaults on two suspected paedophiles. It is understood that a man described as a "vigilante paedophile hunter" has been arrested in connection with assaults on two men in separate incidents on Friday and Saturday.
