Row Erupts Between Wikileaks And Guardian
The Guardian and whistleblower website Wikileaks have become embroiled in a row after 'unredacted' copies of the latters leaked documents were leaked. The disagreement relates to the US diplomatic cables, which the website leaked with sensitive names and information omitted – or redacted - for safety reasons. However, The whistle-blowing group said unredacted versions of the 251,000 diplomatic cables had now been leaked on the internet and blamed the newspaper for the release. Wikileaks linked the disclosure to a book published by the Guardian newspaper last year that included a password to the secret files and said it had started legal action against the paper. The newspaper has strongly denied the claims, blaming the security breach on the website.
Hackney Gangs Operation Leads To 25 Arrests
Police in Hackney have charged 25 people with a total of 217 offences following a series of dawn raids aimed at the dismantling and destruction of criminal gangs in the borough.
Known as Operation Chalais, the arrests included charges of drug possession and firearms offences. Those charged were aged between 20 and 63, and all are due to appear in court on 6 October at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
Manchester United Report Record Profits
Top flight football club Manchester United have reported an operating profit of £110.9m.
The club's Revenue rose to £334.1m for the year, a record rise of £45m on the previous year. Meanwhile, headline pre-tax profit came in at £29.7m, compared with a loss last year. The football club is preparing a partial flotation on the Singapore Stock Exchange to raise up to £600m. Last season, Manchester United won the Premier League and reached the final of the Champions League against Barcelona.
Gov Call For Environment 'Red Tape' Cut
The Government has asked British businesses to name the environmental regulations causing a "burden" to their business as it attempts to cut red tape. The move has criticised by campaigners, who it conflicts with the Government's pledge to be the greenest ever. Ministers said that over the next three weeks the red tape challenge, which aims to reduce regulation for businesses, would be focusing on the 287 environmental regulations that apply to companies. The rules cover issues such as wildlife protection, rubbish and climate change emissions.

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has been accused of double standards over accuracy after they admitted that thousands of people will receive a second tax statement because the first was miscalculated. It is understood that over 5 million people were issued an initial estimate because they had paid the wrong amount of tax in the year to April.
