Jaguar Is Top Luxury Car, Says What Car?
The Jaguar XF has emerged as winner of the Executive and Luxury category in the What Car? Used Car of the Year Awards 2011.
Commended by the judges as a 'seriously desirable and sophisticated car', the XF fought off strong competition in a highly competitive segment.
Chas Hallett, What Car?'s Editor-in-chief, said: "The Jaguar XF's combination of sharp, contemporary styling, build quality, refinement, sporting agility and equipment is a winning formula, especially in the secondhand market where a highly specified model can now be bought for less than £20,000."
The seven-strong What Car? Used Car of the Year judging panel were from all areas of the motor industry including experts from What Car?. The judges picked the winners based on running costs, reliability, driveability, quality, longevity, safety features and desirability.
Andy Whyman, XF Chief Programme Engineer commented: "We worked tirelessly on the development of the XF for its introduction in 2008. Since then, over 38,000 have been sold in the UK and the momentum continues.
"To be recognised by What Car? means a great deal to the whole XF team and we're delighted to add another award to our ever-growing tally."
On September 1, the next generation XF went on sale. Among the range that benefits from aesthetic changes both inside and out is the most efficient XF yet, the new 2.2-litre Diesel model with Stop-Start technology. Reception has been positive with sales up 12.8% versus September 2010 for the XF and 12.5% for the full Jaguar model line up made up of the XF, XK and XJ.

The first of the Jaguar's new sports saloon, the XF, have been rolling off the production line at the company's plant in Castle Bromwich, near Birmingham. Prices for the new model, which replaces the S-Type, starts at £32,925 for the 3.0 litre model and £53,925 for the 4.

Jaguar To Create 1,700 Jobs
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has said it is to create 1,700 new jobs at its plant in Solihull. The positions are part of a £1.5bn investment by the company as it expands its product range. The investment will be used to design systems which allow the chassis of future models to be constructed out of aluminium.

Jaguar Confirms Plant Closure
Car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover plans to shut one of its West Midlands factories within the next five years, it was revealed today. The plant set for the chop looks likely to be either Solihull or Birmingham-based Castle Bromwich.

Anti-war protest placards removed from Parliament
Police have removed anti-war placards, which were part of a five-year vigil by peace activist Brian Haw, from outside the Houses of Parliament. Police removed the placards belonging to Mr Haw in the early hours of Tuesday morning, leaving him with just one placard.

Jaguar cuts car production by 11%
Jaguar is to cut production of cars at its three UK manufacturing plants by 11% for the remainder of this year. However, the T&G, the largest trade union at Jaguar, says that the company, which employs 8,000 people in the UK, has assured the union that there will be no job losses as a result of the production cuts announced on Friday.
