Man Convicted Of DJ Manslaughter

A man has been found guilty at the Old Bailey of the manslaughter of a DJ stabbed through the heart.

Junior Ademujimi-Falade, aged 21 from Landor House, Elmington Estate, SE5 was on Wednesday found guilty of the manslaughter of a teenage nightclub DJ in 2009.

Carl Beatson Asiedu, aged 19, died in the street after being stabbed in the heart in the early hours of 1 August 2009. He was a successful DJ and had just performed a set at the Club Life nightclub in Goding Street on the night he was killed.

Carl, know as DJ Charmz, had performed as part of an ‘urban’ event.

As the friends walked along Goding Street towards Glasshouse Walk to their vehicle, they were approached by approximately 11 males. An argument broke out between one man and Carl’s friend which led to an altercation, during which Carl was stabbed.

The groups of suspects were seen to return to the club only a few minutes later after they ran from the scene.

Carl was found collapsed on the street. His friends had run away during the altercation but returned with others to find Carl lying in the road. They quickly placed him in a car to try and get him to hospital.

The court was told that local police then spotted three speeding cars that had jumped a red light. Officers stopped the cars and discovered Carl Beatson Asiedu in the back suffering from a serious stab wound.

They called the London Ambulance Service before doctors performed open heart surgery on Carl in the street. The procedure was unsuccessful and Carl was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives made extensive enquiries and gathered CCTV evidence managing to identify the defendants as part of the 11 who had been involved in the altercation.

Ademujimi-Falade was been found guilty of Carl’s manslaughter under joint enterprise legislation and will be sentenced at the Old Bailey on 2 December.

A man is still wanted by police in connection with the murder and enquiries to find him continue.
