Queen To Visit Museum Of Liverpool
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are to visit the Museum of Liverpool later today ahead of the opening of a new set of galleries tomorrow.The waterfront museum opened in July this year and it is understood that Queen will unveil a plague during her visit and sign the visitor’s book.The royal couple will take private tours of the museum and New Brighton's Floral Pavilion for lunch.As a result the museum will be closed to the public all day.
BBC To Review Sports Personality Of The Year Nomination Process
The BBC are to review the nomination process for sports personality of the year after no women made it onto the 10 person shortlist in this year’s event. A BBC statement said: "We stand by the current process but have committed to take on board what happened this year. "We will review the shortlisting process for next year's show."The statement continued: "It is too early to say what, if any, changes will be made to the process but please rest assured that we will seek the opinions of people both within and outside of the BBC before deciding on the appropriate methodology for 2012."
Teacher and Pupil Injured In Science Experiment Went Wrong
A teacher and a six-year-old child were injured when a science experiment went wrong, a school has said. The 35-year-old woman's clothes were set on fire while rehearsing a "tried and tested" demonstration at the Hazeley Academy, in Milton Keynes. She is in a stable condition after being airlifted to hospital at about 13:10 GMT on Wednesday with burns to her face and body.The boy, a child of another teacher, escaped with minor injuries. The school was closed to pupils in years seven to 11 at the time of the incident due to Wednesday's strike action.

Anglo-Saxon treasure recently unearthed in Staffordshire has been valued at £3.28 million, the British Museum has said. The independent Treasure Valuation Committee reached the figure for the largest collection of treasure ever found after meeting at the museum.

Aggreko Reports Drop In Sales
Glasgow-based Aggreko has announced it is sticking to its full-year profit guidance despite a recent decline in sales. The temporary power provider reported a drop in sales during its third quarter results with underlying revenue for Q3 7% behind last year and reported revenue down 6%.

The review will look at the current performance of BBC Parliament and the News Channel - including the stations' quality, distinctiveness and value for money - and the BBC's future plans for the services.

PCS Announce Civil Servants Strike Action
Up to 200,000 civil servants are to strike over pay, the Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) has announced. The union, whose members include museum staff, job centre workers, driving test centre employees and port and airport personnel, claim that continuing pay freezes will result in an overall cut in income of 20%, in real terms.
