Rail Staff Set For £650 Olympic Bonus
A deal has been struck between unions and the London Overground which will see employees of the train service benefit from an extra £650 as a bonus for being flexible with their working hours during the 2012 Olympics.
The Rail Maritime and Transport (RMT) union announced the “ground-breaking” deal and said its members at London Overground will receive the extra payment in return for flexibility of work patterns during next summer's event.
Extra pay and money will be available for the station, conductor, train care, fleet maintenance and revenue staff with an enhancement rate of 25% ( time and a quarter) paid.
Over the period covered by the staff a minimum bonus payment of £650 will be paid under the agreement but this could increase with extra shifts and overtime.
General secretary Bob Crow said: "This deal recognises the value placed on transport workers in delivering an effective Olympics and is a good deal for RMT members, the travelling public and Olympic visitors alike."
