Queen's Diamond Jubilee Plans Revealed

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will travel as widely as possible across the UK to mark 2012's Diamond Jubilee, Buckingham Palace has said. The Diamond Jubilee will mark 60 years of the Queen's reign. Other members of the Royal Family will visit the 15 other countries where the Queen is head of state as well as some Commonwealth countries. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit Malaysia, Singapore, Solomon Islands and Tuvalu. It will be the couple's second overseas tour following their visit to Canada earlier this year.

Morrisons Hire 7,000

Morrisons plans to hire more than 7,000 people, mostly to staff new outlets, the retailer has said. The supermarket chain wants to open 25 new branches next year with half of the jobs at new stores expected to go to former employees. Three-quarters are likely to come from the local areas they serve. Some 300 new positions are also planned at Morrisons' new regional distribution centre at Bridgwater, supplying food in south and south-west Wales.

Body Of British Actress Found In Parisian Flat

The body of a young British actress who had worked alongside the late Heath Ledger and Audrey Tautou has been found dead in her Paris flat after apparently committing suicide. Lucy Gordon, whose latest film was due to be screened at Cannes, was found suspended from the ceiling on Tuesday just two days before her 29th birthday. Her family, who live in Oxford, paid tribute to the model and actress as the "light of our lives". A police spokesman said an autopsy had been ordered to determine the cause of death.

Public Name New Neighbourhoods In Olympic Park
Five new residential areas that will be built on the future Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park have been named following a public competition. Almost 2,000 people submitted their suggestions to the Olympic Park Legacy Company, inspired by factors such as the future design for the area, its history or the Games themselves.

Mirren leads the winners at the Golden Globes
Dame Helen Mirren won two awards at the Golden Globe on a night where British talent triumphed. Dame Helen collected the award for Best Actress in a TV movie or mini-series for her role as Queen Elizabeth I in 'Elizabeth I' as well as Best Actress in a drama for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II in Stephen Frears' drama 'The Queen'.

Sky News Cameraman Killed In Egypt
A Sky news cameraman has been shot and killed while covering the ongoing violence in Cairo, Egypt. The broadcaster confirmed the death of 61-year-old Mick Deane on Wednesday. Mr Dean had worked for Sky for 15 years. In a statement, Head of Sky News, John Ryley, paid tribute to an "experienced journalist" and a "much-loved colleague".
