Govt Launches Hydrogen Car Project
The Government has announced a project to ready the UK for hydrogen fuel vehicles starting in 2014.
Launching the project on Wednesday, Business Minister Mark Prisk said the new programme, called UKH2Mobility, will evaluate the potential for hydrogen as a fuel for Ultra Low Carbon Vehicles in the UK before developing an action plan for an anticipated roll-out to UK drivers.
Speaking at the launch Mark Prisk said: “The UK is proving itself to be a key early market for ultra-low emission vehicles with growing numbers of electric and plug-in hybrids appearing on our roads. The Government is supporting this market by investing £400million to support the development, demonstration and deployment of these vehicles.
“Hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles are increasingly being recognised as one of the viable options as we move to a lower carbon motoring future. They are highly efficient, can be fuelled in minutes, travel an equivalent range to a conventional combustion engine, and have zero tail-pipe emissions.
Meanwhile, Jerry Hardcastle, Vice-President for Vehicle Design and Development at Nissan said the project was an important step for the automotive sector towards the development of clean vehicle technologies.
"It will lay many of the foundations for the commercial deployment of hydrogen-powered fuel cell electric vehicles which could represent a large segment of the UK market in the coming years. With this comprehensive list of partners we can be assured to have all the knowledge necessary to make UKH2 Mobility an exhaustive and credible study.”

'Open Access' Station For Hydrogen-powered Vehicles Launched
The UK's first open access hydrogen vehicle refuelling station has been officially opened at Honda's manufacturing facility in Swindon. Built and operated by industrial gases company BOC, a member of The Linde Group, the venture is the result of a partnership between Honda, BOC and economic development company Forward Swindon.

35,124 Toyota Vehicles Recalled In UK
Toyota has issued a global recall of 6.4 million of its vehicles. Of that amount, 35,124 vehicles are in the UK. It is understood the vehicles are being recalled due to five separate issues. The affected vehicles are the RAV4, Hilux, Yaris and Urban Cruiser models, and have been manufactured between 2004 and 2010.

More women die of heart disease than men: WHO report
Contradicting conventional wisdom, the largest-ever worldwide collaborative study of heart disease has found that women are slightly more likely to die from cardiovascular disease (CVD) than men and that heart attacks and strokes kill twice as many women as all cancers combined, the World Health Agency said today. Out of the total 16.
