Gascoigne And Coogan Reach Phone-Hacking Settlement
An ex-footballer and comedian are among the latest celebrities to receive damage settlements over the News of the World phone-hacking scandal.
Scottish football personality Paul Gascoigne has received a settlement claim or £68,000 while Comedian Steve Coogan has received £40,000.
This follows the news that ex-Labour press chief Alastair Campbell and MP Simon Hughes have also settled with News Group Newspapers (NGN).
Tony Blair's former spokesman Mr Campbell, who won substantial damages plus costs while Liberal Democrat deputy leader Mr Hughes received £45,000 plus costs.

Peru Prosecutors Demand More Detail From Smuggling Accused
Reports reveal that prosecutors in Peru are unsatisfied with the guilty pleas entered by two UK women caught trying to board a plane bound for Spain while carrying 11kg of cocaine. It follows the guilty pleas entered on Tuesday by Michaella McCollum, of Dungannon, County Tyrone, and Melissa Reid, of Lenzie, near Glasgow.

Dedicated ITV News Channel axed
ITV has announced that following a "strategic review" it is to invest £2 million in its news programming but the axe has fallen on its 24-hour rolling ITV News Channel. The company said that the decision came after a review of the network’s news services as part of an evaluation of the future requirements for ITV news up to 2010 and beyond.
