Man jailed for murder of Sylvester Akapalara
A man has been sentenced to thirty years for the murder of Sylvester Akapalara in Peckham in 2010. Sodiq Adeojo, 20 of Shurland Gardens, has on Thursday, been sentenced to thirty years in prison for the murder of 17-year-old Sylvester Akapalara in Peckham in December 2010. Adeojo was found guilty of the murder on 9 December 2011, at the Old Bailey. He was also found guilty of two counts of attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon. Sylvester, (also known as Vesta) was found in the fourth floor stairwell at Heron House on December 29, 2010. He was suffering from gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
UK Retail Sales Rise By 0.9%
Retail sales rose 0.9% in January compared with December, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS). The figure was much stronger than forecast as many economists had expected sales volumes to fall. The report showed particularly strong sales of furniture and sports goods as shoppers were tempted by steep discounts. It builds on solid December sales when volumes rose by 0.6%.
Police Appeal For Valentine Murder
Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the murder of a man in Wembley during the early hours of Valentine's Day. He is believed to be in his mid-30s, Somali in appearance, and from north-west London. The incident occurred at approximately 2.20am on Tuesday 14 February, when officers and the London Ambulance Service, were called to reports of a man injured following an assault. On arrival officers found a man suffering from serious head injuries. He was taken to a north-west London hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The deceased man has today been formally identified as 35-year-old Omer Jama Abdi of Somalia. A post mortem took place at Northwick Park Hospital on Tuesday 14 February, and the result of this was inconclusive. We await further tests to be carried out. Police said they understand the victim had been involved in an altercation with two men described as Somali in appearance outside an address in St John's Road, prior to the assault.

Double Murder Suspect Arrested
Following the arrest on Sunday morning of double murder suspect James Allen police have appealed for people to check on any friends and relatives who could have come into contact him. Detectives made the appeal after 36-year-old Allen was arrested early on Sunday after being spotted by an off-duty officer on his way to work in Leeds.

Suspected London bomber to be returned to UK
A British man wanted for questioning in connection with the failed London bomb attacks on July 21 is to be extradited to the UK within 35 days, an Italian court has ruled. Osman Hussein (27) will appeal the decision to the Italian Supreme court, according to his lawyers.

Man Charged With Murder Of Homeless Man
A man has been charged with the murder of a homeless man who died after an attack at a bus stop in the West-Midlands last month. The 35-year-old from Smethwick was charged and remanded in custody on Sunday, to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Monday morning.

An illegal immigrant has been jailed for life for murdering a Romanian man in Manchester. Haroon Ahmed Niged, 27, of Stockport Road, Longsite, pleaded guilty at Manchester Crown Court to murdering Marian-ion Matei. Niged was jailed for life and ordered to serve a minimum sentence of 14 years.

A man has been charged with attempted murder following an incident in Faversham at the weekend. Kent Police confirmed Lincoln Payne, of no fixed abode, had been charged with robbery, theft and two counts of attempted murder following an incident in Fostall Avenue on Saturday, 30 May.
