Nestle Goes Au Natural
Nestle, manufacturer of Kit Kat, Smarties and 77 other confectionary products, has become the first big UK confectioner to remove all artificial colours, flavours and preservatives from its entire range. Responding to consumer demand the company began replacing more than 80 additives six years ago, with the Crunch bar being the last of their 79 products to become additive free.
They will now use concentrates of fruits, vegetables and edible plants such as carrots to provide colour.
Describing the move as a ‘significant milestone’, managing director of Nestle David Rennie said, Nestlé is proud to be the only major confectionery company in the UK to announce it is 100% free of artificial preservatives, flavours or colours across its entire portfolio.
To achieve this, Nestlé Confectionery and our suppliers have worked very hard ensuring we don't compromise and we maintain the same quality and taste of all our brands."
The company has also removed artificial products from all of its beverage range.

Employees of Western Greyhound in Cornwall have arrived at work this morning to find the company has ceased trading. According to a report by the BBC, around 40 staff arrived for work on Friday morning and found the depot closed.

Nestle announces job losses
Swiss food firm Nestle has announced that it is cutting 645 jobs at its factory in York. The firm, the world's largest food and drink company, will sell part of the site in York and move the production of some of its products to other factories in Europe.
