Two Jailed For Dangerous Driving

Two drivers have been jailed for causing the deaths of two men who were passengers in one of the cars. Michael Allen, 22, of Heath Green, Dudley, was jailed for nine-and-a-half years for causing death by dangerous driving following the crash in Sedgley. A second driver, Simon Skidmore, 25, of Tipton Road, Sedgley, was jailed for seven years for the same offence. Daniel Eales, 24, and Tim Morris, 22, died after the Honda Civic they were in hit traffic lights and a wall. Mr Eales, from Gornal, was pronounced dead at hospital after the crash in Tipton Road, about 22:15 BST on 8 April, 2011.Mr Morris, also from Gornal, died of his injuries five days after the incident.

Stranded Hillwalkers Rescued

Nine hillwalkers, including six teenagers - who became stranded after heavy snowfall have been rescued, police confirmed. A major rescue operation was launched after the party became stuck in the Cairngorms. The three adults and six teenagers had become stranded following the overnight snowfall. They contacted a friend by phone to seek help.

Grampian Police, a Royal Navy helicopter and a mountain rescue team based at Braemar, Aberdeenshire, were all involved in the operation to rescue them from the hillside.

Police Save Toy Dog

Police in Nottinghamshire have smashed their way into a parked car to save what they believed to be a small dog. However on getting into the car they discovered that the dog was indeed no more than a stuffed animal. The police had been alerted by a concerned passerby, who also thought a real dog had been left in the back of a locked car located at Church Lane, Mansfield. According to the BBC police will discuss compensation with the owner of the car, who is believed to be an elderly gentleman.

Major Police Hunt Launched After Boy Taken From Hospital
A major police hunt has begun after a five-year-old boy with a brain tumour, was taken by his family without consent from Southampton General Hospital. Police said that Ashya King was taken from the hospital by Brett King, 51, and Naghemeh King, 45, on Thursday. It is thought he may have been taken to France.

'Skull Cracker' In Custody In London
Kent Police, in partnership with officers from the Metropolitan Police Service, have arrested two men in East London on suspicion of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. On 3 May, Kent Police began a search for Michael Wheatley, 55, who had failed to return to HMP Standford Hill after being released on temporary licence.
