School IT Manager Jailed Over Indecent Images

A IT Manager at a school in Wales has been jailed following the discovery of 400,000 indecent images of children.

Swansea's Crown Court today heard how Jeffrey Gravell, 54, had stolen computers from Coedcae Comprehensive in Llanelli, and used them to download the pictures and videos at his home.

Mr Gravell was sentenced to two years imprisonment after being convicted of 43 counts of making and possessing indecent images. He was also convicted of stealing computers and equipment from the school were he worked.

It is understood that 6-7,000 images were deemed to be in the worst category of indecency.

However, investigators said they were certain that no pupils from the school were Mr Gravell worked were photographed or filmed.

Judge Christopher Vosper said: "This was an enormous number of indecent images, the most that Dyfed-Powys Police have ever encountered.

"By my calculation there were between 6-7,000 images at the worse levels - four and five."
