Expert Team land On Elgin Platform To Perform “Well Kill”
A team of experts have boarded the leaking Elgin platform in the North Sea.
The team of 11 will carry out ‘Operation Total’ – a “well kill” plan likely to involve plugging the leak with mud.
The platform was evacuated after gas started leaking on Sunday 25 March. Tests on fish from close to the gas leak have shown they are "untainted".
Full chemical testing of all environmental samples is continuing.
JK Rowling Reveals Title Of New Adult Book
JK Rowling has revealed the title of her first adult novel – ‘The Casual Vacancy’
The Harry Potter writer revealed in February that she was working on the book "very different" from her previous material.
"The freedom to explore new territory is a gift that Harry's success has brought me," Rowling said.
The book will be published worldwide in hardback, e-book and as an audio download and CD on 27 September.
Libraries Awarded Fund To Digitise Ancient Texts
After receiving a £2m award from the Polonsky Foundation Oxford's Bodleian Libraries and the Vatican's Biblioteca Apostolica plan to digitise 1.5 million ancient texts to make them available online.
The project is expected to take four years with Dr Leonard Polonsky saying the aim was to ensure researchers and the public have free access to historic and rare texts.

No charges brought over Tube shooting 'leak'

Probe launched over leaking of Hutton Report
Lord Hutton has today ordered an inquiry into how the conclusions of his report found their way onto the Sun's frontpage ahead of its official publication. In a statement today, Lord Hutton said that he had "put in train an urgent investigation" into how the Sun's political correspondent Trevor Kavanagh managed to get his hands on the report.
