Jersey Killer Admits Manslaughter But Denies Murder

The man charged with the fatal stabbings of six people on the island of Jersey last year has pleaded guilty to manslaughter through diminished responsibility, but denied murder.

31-year-old Damian Rzeszowski stabbed and killed his wife Izabela, 30, their two children, Kinga, five, and two-year-old Kacper in St Helier, Jersey, on 14 August last year.

In the same attack he also killed his wife’s father, Marek Garstka, 56, family friend Marta Dominika De La Haye, 34, and her five-year-old daughter Julia Frances.

Rzeszowski briefly appeared via video link to enter his plea at the royal court of Jersey on Monday.

The trial will start on 13 August and is expected to take two weeks.

Attorney General To Review Four-Year Sentence For Once Punch Killer
A four-year sentence given to a 20-year-old man for an unprovoked attack that killed Andrew Young is to be reviewed. Lewis Gill, of Sutton, south London, was jailed for the manslaughter of 40-year-old Andrew Young. Mr Gill punched Mr Young knocking him the ground, where he hit his head. He died a short time later in hospital.

Serial Killer Admits Murder Of 14-Year-Old Boy
A convicted serial killer serving three life sentences has been found guilty of the 1990 murder of a 14-year-old boy. 42-year-old Steven Grieveson confessed to killing Simon Martin, whose semi-naked body was found in a derelict house in Sunderland in 1990.

Lee Rigby Killer Loses Appeal Bid
One of the two Islamic extremists who murdered soldier Lee Rigby has lost his appeal challenge against his conviction. Michael Adebolajo, 28, was sentenced to life in prison after he was convicted of killing Mr Rigby outside Woolwick Barracks in May last year.

Man And Woman Arrested In Jersey Case
A man and woman have been arrested in Jersey by detectives involved in the Historical Abuse Enquiry. The Jersey police have said that a 70-year-old man and a 69-year-old man are currently in custody "in connection with a number of alleged grave and criminal assaults on children within the Jersey Care system in the 1960's and 1970's".
