Lord Feldman Appoints Ben Gummer MP As His Parliamentary Adviser

The Conservative Party co-chairman, Lord Feldman, has announced he has appointed Ben Gummer MP to be his Parliamentary Adviser.

Mr Gummer, who won Ipswich for the Conservatives at the last election, will assist Lord Feldman in liaising with the Parliamentary Party.

Lord Feldman said: "I am delighted that Ben Gummer has agreed to be my Parliamentary Adviser. His role in helping me to liaise closely with colleagues on Party matters will be invaluable."

IPSA To Investigate Dorries Expenses Claims
Expenses claims submitted by MP Nadine Dorries will be investigated by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA). The MP for faces an inquiry into her spending on accommodation and travel, with IPSA saying it had reason to believe she had received expenses "that should not have been allowed".

Health and asylum policies criticised in Commons' Aids report
Health policies and the government's approach to dealing with asylum seekers have come under fire in a Commons committee report on HIV and Aids released today. The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Aids found that there was a "general consensus" that NHS services are "overstretched due to prolonged under-investment".

Conservative MP Patrick Mercer Quits Over BBC Panorama Programme
A Conservative MP has resigned from the party follwing a BBC Panorama programme alleging he broke parliamentary rules over lobbying. Mr Patrick Merecer will step down as MP for Newark at the general election in 2015. Mr Mercer said: “Panorama are planning to broadcast a programme alleging that I have broken Parliamentary rules.

Queen's Speech Date Announced
The Queen's 2013 speech has been announced for 8 May. The annual speech marks the Opening of Parliament and is one of the main events in the Westminster calendar. State Opening occurs on the first day of a new parliamentary session or shortly after a general election.
