Titus Bramble Cleared Of Sex Offences

A Premier League footballer has been cleared of sexually assaulting two women.

Sunderland defender Titus Bramble consistently denied charges of groping a woman’s bottom in a club in Yarm, Teesside, and sexually assaulting a second woman in a taxi the same night.

In a four-day trial at Teeside Crown Court, the jury heard that the taxi driver was concerned for the woman’s safety and drove the pair to a police station, where she locked herself in a toilet until she was sure Bramble had left.

He was arrested there.

When he first woman heard about Bramble's arrest on the news, she filed a complaint against Bramble for groping her bottom.

Neither woman can be named for legal reasons.

But when the footballer took to the stand he denied four charges of sexual assault and said the woman in the taxi had kissed him "passionately" and never told him to stop.

He said: "We were kissing. We kissed a couple of times passionately. She was touching me and putting my hand on her leg."

He admitted that he was "quite drunk" on the night in question, last September, and said the woman's mood changed in the taxi.

Today the jury cleared him of all charges.

Sunderland AFC declined to comment on the case.
