Extra 43,000 Olympic Tickets Released

An extra 43,000 tickets have been made available for some of the Olympic Games's most popular events are due to go on a first come, first served sale.

This batch is made up of "contingency tickets", held back until the venues were finished and broadcast and other spaces confirmed.

They are for the opening and closing ceremonies and six sports - athletics, swimming, football at Wembley, volleyball, table tennis and boxing.

The sale starts on Olympics organisers Locog's website at 11:00 BST.

As with other Olympics tickets, they can only be bought using a Visa card. Prices for the opening or closing ceremony tickets start at £995. Tickets for the six sports range from £20 to £720, across 96 sessions.

Future sports stars get financial help from Govt
The Government has announced a £1 million cash injection for the UK's future sports stars. Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell revealed today that £1 million in special £10,000 Olympic Scholarships will be given each year to around 100 young people with the potential to be medallists in the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.

Poll reveals fears over extending pub opening hours
A poll has found that almost 70% of people believe that violence will increase in Britain, if pubs are allowed to extend their opening hours. Polling organisation ICM, conducted a survey of 1,024 people across Britain, on behalf of BBC Breakfast.

London 2012 Paralympic Tickets Set To Go On Sale
Tickets for the London 2012 Paralympic Games go on sale around the world today. In the UK and within the EU, people can apply for tickets online between 9am on 9 September and 6pm on 26 September 2011. Approximately two million tickets will go on sale to the public between now and Games time, with 1.5 million being available in this first phase.
